Recently, I closed one of my sermons on David with these words, “our world is full of giants and our God is looking for giant killers”! Well, it has only been a few weeks and already God has placed a significant giant before us.
One of our partners, the Northern Arizona Food Bank, is currently facing an unbelievable financial “giant”. While seeking to meet the nutritional needs of nearly 10,000 people per month, this Northern Arizona agency is currently facing a monthly deficit of $7,000.
Its current director, Kerry Ketchum, has put together a strong 90 day action plan to incorporate key financial partners that will bring this vital agency from the realm of financial destitution to one of vibrant financial stability. In order to provide Kerry the time to implement this response, we have asked God to allow us to come alongside NAFB to provide a vital 90 day window.
In order for us to help our ministry partner, we are planning to pursue the following plan: (1) CCoF will underwrite 1/3 of this 90 day shortfall; (2)A NAFB partner will underwrite 1/3 of the shortfall; and, two special CCoF events will allow each and every one of you to partner in this effort to meet the final 1/3 of the shortfall.
The first event is our July Special offering. Our Special Offerings have had so much impact on the Kingdom of God and here is one more great opportunity to work with a CCoF partner to touch thousands of lives. Please pray how God would have you respond.
The second event is our July “Name Your Own Price” yard sale. 75% of all monies raised will be sent to NAFB to help this vital constituency in meeting their need in order to further serve those in need living here in Northern Arizona.
Some may ask, “What if, in 90 days, this giant is not conquered and NAFB makes the most difficult choice to close its doors?” It would be a tragic day, but each of us will then know we did everything we could and 30,000 people will have been fed. None of us knows the future – only our God does! So let’s seek to be faithful and see what God can do with our five stones, five loaves, and two fishes.
